STudent & Graduate Opportunities

Work Experience
We offer seasonal work experience opportunities to some students during school holidays, fill out an application and tell us why you would be a good candidate. TDL work experience is an opportunity to make money and explore your interest in landscaping before making a commitment to it as your future career.

School based traineeships
If you are still at school, you can access an apprenticeship through your school. Talk to your school's VET Co-ordinator or career councillor about starting your training through VET in Schools. A training plan will be developed through a registered training organisation (such as a TAFE), and will need to be authorised by you, your school, and a guardian if you are under 18. As an SBAT you would be required to work a minimum average of 7.5 hours of paid work per week, averaged over six months. Your training may be completed while at school, or after you have finished.

Traineeships – 12 months
We offer apprenticeships or traineeships to school-leavers. If you are no longer at school, you can apply for an apprenticeship or traineeship and get paid while you learn and work. Spend time working and learning practical skills on the job and undertake structured training with a registered training provider.

Design Draftsperson - Landscape

TDL’s Residential Design department is currently seeking an Architectural/Landscape Draftsperson with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in high end residential design and drafting.

What we’re looking for;

  • You will have experience completing drawings, plans and modelling to accurately reflect customer requirements as described in the design brief
  • You will have used AutoCAD and SketchUp software daily to produce the designs, as well as the Microsoft Suite.
  • You are organised, reliable and work well as part of a team with strong communicative and collaborative skills.
  • You enjoy a varied day and can multitask and prioritise in a busy environment of competing demands
  • Qualifications within the construction sector and Drafting qualifications, 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • You enjoy asking questions to gain an in-depth understanding of an issue and coming up with resolutions.
  • You must have a drivers licence to attend site consultations
  • You have a passion for residential building industry 

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Ability to interpret client briefs and budgets to commence design stage modelling
  • Prepare base drawings, landscape sketch & concept plans in line with design brief and within designated time frames
  • Drawings & Plans to be in accordance with relevant building regulations (council, covenant guidelines)
  • Occasional 3D modelling of landscape designs
  • Complete detailing and refined designs ready for formal approvals and construction drawings
  • Collaborate with other architects, engineers and planners to gather and interpret relevant factors that will impact the designs
  • Provide design and planning advice to clients and liaise with local government organisations
  • Prepare cost and construction material quotations

General Labourer - Construction

This position will play an integral role in supporting the Finance department. This role is available to candidates who wish to work full time five days a week, part time four days a week or part time five days a week.

What we’re looking for;

  • An experienced payroll officer, who has processed a payroll of over 100 staff, and within the construction and/or maintenance industries
  • Excellent attention to detail, ensuring all staff are paid accurately
  • The ability to communicate well, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisation skills to ensure payments are made on time
  • A strong understanding of the importance of confidentiality in handling personal and sensitive details
  • Experience utilising MYOB Advanced, or similar software to process payroll and accounts payable

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • General management of the company’s payroll system including but not limited to
    • Ensuring all time cards are received, accurate and processed in a timely manner
    • Entering new staff on MYOB Advanced for payroll as they commence
    • Process 3 separate payrolls on a fortnightly basis
  • Maintain payroll system and data records
  • Assisting employees with any payroll related queries or issues
  • Entering expense claims into MYOB Advanced
  • Monitoring and coordinating the issue of company uniforms
  • Managing the petty cash function
  • Ensuring all incoming invoices, expense claims are received, registered, approved and processed correctly, accurately and in a timely manner

The following skills are desirable, but not essential;

  • Experience working in construction or maintenance industries
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite

These positions are available in the metro area, the Port Kennedy area and the Bunbury area. Experience in Landscape Maintenance for Commercial and Residential sites is highly regarded for our Maintenance roles. For the commercial roles, we’re looking for all-round landscape construction experience.

To be successful you’ll need to be a positive team player with a ‘can do’ attitude. You’ll be completing a range of manual handling and related landscape tasks in a small team under the direction of a team leader. We’d love you to have a MH License and white card where possible. We’ll proudly supply you with our TDL branded uniforms, and all PPE is provided.
