Design Manager
Following a significant increase in prospective residential clients, the addition of a Design Manager to our Residential Design team will be instrumental in the continued growth of this department. Working alongside an established team and reporting to the Marketing & Residential Design Manager, this permanent role will be responsible for delivering high quality landscaping designs for our clients.

- Significant experience in landscape or urban design, both conceptually and documented;
- Refined horticultural knowledge;
- Well developed and tested client liaison skills;
- Balancing a highly creative approach to design with practical considerations to ensure the client receives a buildable design, in budget;
- Knowledge of planning approvals and timelines to achieve sign off;
- A highly effective, collaborative, detail oriented and results focused communicator;
- Highly desired proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Sketch Up and Planswift;
- Highly organised and is accountable to follow through on internal and external work commitments; and
- Flexibility to attend client consultations across the Perth metro and surrounds.
This role will be responsible for:
- Gather the scope of the project from the client at an initial consultation conducted on site or in the office;
- Prepare and secure a fee proposal in line with client budget;
- Prepare designs in AutoCAD and/or Sketch Up, liaising with internal Landscape Architects and Designers as required;
- Attend to planning or licencing approval tasks;
- Effectively liaise with the client throughout the design process;
- Participate in handover to the Construction team;
- Provide ongoing design advice throughout the construction phase;
- Ensure accurate records are kept of all information pertaining to the project, including time allocation, profitability, invoicing, client communications, design intent and value engineering.

SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
TDL are currently seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to join our Commercial Design team to support the continued growth of this department. Working alongside an established team and reporting to the Commercial Design Manager, this permanent role will be responsible for delivering high quality landscaping designs for our clients.

- Qualified Landscape Architect, with a minimum of 5 years working experience in the field;
- AILA Registration highly desired, but not essential;
- Refined horticultural knowledge;
- Experience in producing project outcomes demonstrating quality design and demonstrating an understanding of construction practices;
- Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and other design tools;
- Understanding of council requirements and processes for construction;
- Project management and contract administration skills, including the development of project briefs, preparing costs and managing budgets;
- Creative thinker, who wishes to innovate in our industry, whilst carefully balancing constructability considerations;
- Ability to problem solve to provide solutions to unanticipated challenges;
- Ability to work with limited supervision within given deadlines; and
- Ability and interest in leading and managing a small team.
This role will be responsible for:
- Lead in the delivery of complex projects from inception through to successful completion, which includes initial sketch design, detailed design, documentation through to contract administration;
- Collaborate with sub consultant groups where required such as architects, engineers and planners to gather information on factor that will affect the landscape design such as planning requirements, drainage, services, existing and proposed buildings and structures;
- Produce innovative, accurate and considered landscape designs, documentation and specifications to client brief, budget and project timelines;
- Prepare sketch and concept plans, showing features such as location of buildings, roads and walkways, land contours and vegetation to be planted or retained for client approval.
- Prepare details for landscape items for construction drawing sets after construction quotes have been approved and complete within allocated hours.
- Discuss design options, costs and construction materials of project items with peer designers, estimators and engineers.
- Prepare project areas, quantities and excerpts of drawings for quoting purposes.
- Ensure all projects going to construction are evaluated for council approval requirements, and lodge necessary requirements;
- Complete all design work within allocated budgeted hours per project
- Distribute work to junior design team members and oversee the quality of work;
- Attend site meetings or site visits as required;
- Support Commercial Design Manager to compile Design Fee Proposals for submission.

Landscape Gardener - Maintenance

To be successful, you’ll need to be a positive team player with a ‘can do’ attitude. You’ll be completing a range of general landscape maintenance tasks including but not limited to:
- Turf maintenance (cylinder, rotary and ride-on mowing)
- Gardening duties (pruning, hedging, weeding etc.)
- Pest & disease control
- Fertiliser application
- Irrigation maintenance
- Softscape upgrades
Prior experience or qualifications would be highly regarded however, we are able to offer traineeships and further training and support to those looking to enter the industry.

STudent & Graduate Opportunities
Work Experience
We offer seasonal work experience opportunities to some students during school holidays, fill out an application and tell us why you would be a good candidate. TDL work experience is an opportunity to make money and explore your interest in landscaping before making a commitment to it as your future career.
School based traineeships
If you are still at school, you can access an apprenticeship through your school. Talk to your school's VET Co-ordinator or career councillor about starting your training through VET in Schools. A training plan will be developed through a registered training organisation (such as a TAFE), and will need to be authorised by you, your school, and a guardian if you are under 18. As an SBAT you would be required to work a minimum average of 7.5 hours of paid work per week, averaged over six months. Your training may be completed while at school, or after you have finished.
Traineeships – 12 months
We offer apprenticeships or traineeships to school-leavers. If you are no longer at school, you can apply for an apprenticeship or traineeship and get paid while you learn and work. Spend time working and learning practical skills on the job and undertake structured training with a registered training provider.
