In the works – Australian Natives and Understated Luxury

a bird's eye view of this sprawling native landscape. This residential landscape design is a masterclass in understated luxury. With expansive grounds to work with, our design team was tasked with transforming the landscape to create an experience that is both tranquil and exciting, enticing the inhabitants to make use of the entire site. With sweeping paths and numerous distinctive zones, each section is designed to be both a self-contained delight and an enhancement to the rest of the property.

Creating a sense of arrival, and echoing the naturalistic planting choices, the curved lines of the pedestrian paths and driveway sweep a convenient loop past the front of the home. Mature trees and muted mixed plantings set the tone for the rest of the gardens, providing a distinctly Australian sense of peace and tranquility.

To the rear, a stylish contemporary concrete infinity pool and spa combination with muted hues and contrasting tones overlooks a wide-open space, giving the users that rare combined sense of privacy and freedom that can only be achieved in the country. An outdoor shower completes the experience. See the full landscape design flythrough below.

Fremantle Heritage

A circular moated pool with crazy paving and Alocasia planting.A unique design built for a beautiful heritage home packed tightly into Fremantle’s dense streets, the payoff of this project was well worth the challenge. Contemporary curves meeting rustic finishes, the landscape sits in the sweet spot between honouring the heritage of the home and introducing contemporary style and functionality. The show-stopping circular pool at the landscape’s center is surrounded by a planted moat of alocasia, which will grow to spill out of the retaining wall, creating a lush tangle of giant leaves.

Overlapping the pool is a circular deck of warm timber, surrounded by a custom-built iron trellis. The structure is intended to grow over with the leafy planting below, echoing the already overgrown structures of the home. Circular brick paving and planters tie the rustic character of the heritage residence to the new designs, adding warmth to the landscape.

Referencing the iron trellis and existing staircase, new iron fencing lines the second storey level of the garden. This level and the beautiful narrow staircase provide a view to the pool below that makes the most of the design. The pool’s colour and position make it sparkle in complimentary colours to the warm tones of the home’s finishes and paving.

Only recently completed, with some time and care, this landscape will grow into a verdant and private haven in iconic heritage Fremantle. Feeling inspired?
