A lot of people look at their pool or garden and find themselves unhappy, but have a hard time working out how to improve. As part of our heroic efforts to promote beautiful gardens around Perth, we’re going to take you through one of our projects. Take a look at just how much a landscape can be improved by the right approach.
This garden makeover on a home in Mount Claremont ended up completely transforming the garden, and making it usable once more. The client’s needs for their pool and garden had changed, and so had their tastes. This dated landscape update was no small project, but we were also careful to retain some of their more treasured/established elements. Before TDL came along, this garden had fallen into disuse. The kids had outgrown the pool, it had served them well, and now the space was in dire need of an overhaul.
This client wasn’t getting the most use out of their pool, their days of swimming laps and playing Marco Polo were significantly fewer as the kids grew up. To suit their new lifestyles, the pool renovation included the addition of a built in spa. The spa created a new space for the clients to lounge and relax in with friends, while preserving the pool for family gatherings and the odd dip. The old terracotta pool capping and limestone surrounds were dated and not in keeping with their tastes. We removed the old paving and replaced it with large format Atlantic Stone. The cool tones and contemporary finish compliments beautifully the carefully retained lush green planting that lines the boundary fences.
To fit with and enhance the existing verdant and glossy leafed plants, a mature Frangipani was transplanted. It sits at the rear of the pool providing a natural shade solution with its overarching canopy and contributes to a look that emulates a luxurious tropical vacation. The existing garden was lit by a somewhat rinky-dink fairy light setup, there was some room for improvement. A permanent arrangement of designer fairy-lights over the seating area creates a warm and welcoming mood and plays a role in subtly separating the space from the pool area.
