Custom Pool Builders

Award-Winning Pool Builders in Perth

The right swimming pool can transform a home and the lives of its occupants. Well-designed and constructed pools add appeal, change the way a dwelling is used, and create opportunities for memory-making and positive lifestyle changes.

Not all pools are created (or endure) equally. Building an outdoor space that includes a pool is a commitment to the legacy of your home and garden. We specialise as custom concrete pool builders, with designs that belong with and enhance dwellings, stand the test of time, and add the most possible enjoyment to their users, with the least possible stress.

If a pool is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. That's the philosophy TDL’s custom pool designers and pool builders bring to every project.

Our New Pools services

A new pool relates with its surroundings in many ways. When we’re talking with you about your pool design, these are some of the things we’ll consider together.

pool design
Pool design
It’s simple – we listen and take care of all the details to deliver you a beautiful refurbished pool and surrounds. We specialise in clever pool designs, merging innovation and practicality in a way that reflects your individuality and sense of style. A swimming pool that is sympathetically integrated into your backyard, adds new flexibility to your homes living and entertaining areas.
pool finishes
Pool finishes
The pool finishes you choose will have a significant impact on your pool’s final design aesthetic. There are many types of pool finishes to choose from, including plaster, tile, and aggregate finishes, and each type comes in an array of materials, colours, and textures.
Pool covers
Pool covers are a cost effective and convenient way to save water, chemicals and heat evaporation, no to mention saving you time and money when it comes to the maintenance of your pool. When it comes to the type of pool blanket and the method of installing it, there are a variety of options. These include manual and automatic pool blankets made of bubble plastic or insulating foam.
pool surrounds
Pool surrounds
The surface around the pool is critical. Ensuring the surface underfoot is soft and does not attract too much heat is important. Natural timber under shade is a great solution and a soft travertine stone paver is great in the areas exposed to a little more sunlight. All of this needs to match with your home and overall design style you are trying to achieve.
pool water feature
Water features
Adding a water feature to your pool can add a whole new element to your project. When choosing the feature itself, consider the scale of the pool and the surrounding garden. Some options for water features include; water walls, water blades, water spouts, water jets, fountains and water decks.
heated pools
Pool heating
A well-located pool can add a month of swimming time either side of summer through passive solar heating of the pool. Unfortunately, this is not always possible and other supplementary alternatives need to be considered. Fully understanding initial and lifecycle costs of the various heating options (most commonly solar, gas and electric) and their size and space requirements are worthwhile prior to installing your pool.
pool shade
Shade options
Whether it is a built form (alfresco style) or natural (trees), shade is important to the success of a pool space. Too much and you will have a cold pool, and too little and the time a pool can be used will be limited in the hottest months. Having shade over the pool is often a consideration for those with young children, while a space to retreat to and relax by the pool in the shade is also important.
poolside planting
Planting
Plant foliage adds beauty and cools the pool area. To avoid spending more time cleaning your pool than swimming in it, consider adding plants like Star Jasmine, Agave and Mondo Grass. As part of your pool design process, we will help you find plants that will compliment your pool setting.

We are an award-winning landscape design practice producing exceptional outdoor spaces and gardens. Our portfolio of work continuously pushes the boundaries of innovation and excellence.

Our Pool design & Construction Process

TDL's Offices
  • STEP 1 - Consultation

The initial design consultation is our opportunity to explore the possibilities for your new pool and residential landscape design. This consultation is usually held onsite at your property, unless you haven’t commenced construction yet, in which case it is held in our design studio. During this consultation, we will ask questions and listen intently so we can fully understand your needs and expectations. We will also provide valuable input and insights for how to best use your space. From this session a design fee proposal including a design brief will be prepared and emailed to you. Consultations incur a $480 fee, including GST, for both onsite and in-studio appointments.

  • STEP 2 - Sketch Plan

The design brief compiled from our initial meeting, together with your site evaluation and plans enables us to develop a sketch plan. Your sketch plan illustrates the proposed layout of your pool and landscape surrounds. Once this is complete, we meet with you again and provide a series of images, sketch plans and or 3D representations, depending on the complexity of your project, to communicate our combined ideas for your new pool and landscape. We will also provide you with an estimate for the scope of works.

  • STEP 3 - Concept Plan

After the presentation of your sketch plan, if there are additions or changes that need to be made, we will work through these with you to refine and establish a final concept design. Once the design is final, we'll provide you with a fixed price construction contract and talk you through the next steps of getting started on your build.

  • STEP 4 - Finalisation & Planning Approval

To begin the construction process, we tick all the final boxes and take care of all council planning requirements including engineering, building licence submissions and produce a comprehensive set of construction drawings. Your dedicated TDL Design Manager will guide you through the process. Councils determine design compliance and every council is different, and may have different timeframes and requirements. We will work with these external parties to ensure the necessary paperwork is completed while keeping you updated. This approval process can take from 3 to 6 months

  • STEP 5 - Construction and Handover

Sit back and relax and we commence the creation of your new pool and surrounds. As your construction draws to a close, we will go through the process of resolving the finishing touches. After practical completion is reached, your TDL pool is officially yours for life. If your pool and landscape would benefit from it, we will also put together a maintenance proposal to ensure your garden continues to look its best all year round.
