The initial brief from the client was to create a pool hard alongside the boundary to allow for a large poolside hangout and turf area. Due to the neighbours not signing a BA20 form, the pool design changed in size, location and style. The client wanted to maintain some turf area while creating a pool fitting with the landscape’s proportions.
Pool Landscape – The pool was situated at the rear of the property while maintaining connection to the new alfresco and raised decking. The pool was utilized as retaining, specifically with the northern neighbour. This allowed us to create a raised decking poolside that was tucked away to the side of the house and create a location for in-ground storage of pool toys. To create shade to the area a cantilevered umbrella was installed to shade the majority of the pool during the heat of the day, while not impeding on the lounging deck space. Large format Atlantic stone was installed as pathways, pool capping and pool wall cladding.
The rear boundary limestone wall was painted in bauwerks – onyx to provide a dark background to create depth of field and tie in with the remaining colour pallet of the landscape. Stainless steel wiring allowed star jasmine to climb along the wall. The remainder of the planting pallet was green on green with large tristaniopsis planted along the northern boundary to create privacy and a lush landscape.
The overall result of the landscape was the creation of several spaces to entertain and relax while enjoying the view and amenity of the pool and it’s surrounds.
