Dutch Inn Playground

TDL worked with the Town of Cottesloe to provide a concept to upgrade this existing playground.  While the Town’s playgrounds are well-located for the most part, TDL provided recommendations for improving the experience and layout of the playground. The existing playground was lacking in character, but its location lends itself to a ‘surfy’ sculptural theme. The overall space is a linear layout that stretches approximately 400m long. TDL recommended that the playspace be relocated to the north end of the Dutch Inn POS, consolidated with the exercise equipment and kept separate from the area where kite surfers frequently set up & wash down. The playground is often exposed to harsh weather, particularly in winter. TDL recommended that there be an opportunity for nature play or a play opportunity that is active year round, whether it be shaded in summer or sheltered in winter.
