GARDEN INSPIRATION - MINIM COVE RESIDENCE

GARDEN INSPIRATION – MINIM COVE RESIDENCE

This stunning Minim Cove residence is a perfect example of landscape and architecture coming together in integrated harmony, transforming what was a difficult corner block into an aesthetically pleasing and functional home. Engaged early in the planning stages of the home design we were able to make suggestions as to how the landscape could help scale the multi storey façade and provide privacy to the exposed external living spaces.

A pair of ornamental pear trees (Pyrus Nivalis) stand on the council verge, beneath which pockets of textured planting effectively claim this as part of the garden, making the property feel more generous. A custom made steel fence runs along the boundary acting as both a security and an effective pool barrier, in time this fence will become entwined in star jasmine (trachelospermum jasminoides)

A series of large circular steppers lead in toward the front entrance which is housed beneath a cantilevered arbour. A climbing wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) is scaling the post and will soon create a beautiful cascade above. Flanking the entry is a reclaimed red brick planter with a beautiful combination of dichondra silver falls (Dichondra argentea) and trailing rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis Prostratus)

An apostrophe shaped plunge pool is the centre piece of the front courtyard and was conceived to wrap around the internal stairway, its curved external edge maximising space both within the pool and its surrounds. A mature frangipani (Plumeria Species) provides a focus and shade.

Beyond the pool a brick bar was built along the boundary wall the perfect spot for a cold beverage while enjoying the sunset over the river beyond.
